SimpleX is exceptionally strong on identifier privacy. Briar already delivers proven nearby resilience on Android.
The practical comparison
“End-to-end encrypted” is important, but it does not answer who assigns your identity, which infrastructure is mandatory, or what happens when the normal route is unavailable.

Important: Komms transport support is implemented in the Alpha, but hands-on radio and device qualification remains a release gate. This table compares product architecture and current availability—not a blanket security ranking.
Where Komms is different
Other products protect message content well. Komms goes further by refusing to make one identity provider, delivery service, or transport the only way a conversation can continue.
The user should not have to start a different chat because internet, local, radio, or offline-file delivery is available.
Identity is cryptographic and local. Contacts are introduced deliberately instead of being discovered through a phone-number database.
A self-hosted or volunteer relay can help with availability without becoming the owner of plaintext conversations or user accounts.
